Neuro-Orbit: our AI-enabled flight computer project is under way

module processing

We have started Neuro-Orbit, a two-year R&D project supported by the TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB 1501 Industrial R&D Projects Support Programme. The goal is a flight computer that runs artificial-intelligence workloads in orbit, in real time.

Neuro-Orbit pairs a radiation-tolerant FPGA SoC, which runs the critical flight software, with a dedicated AI accelerator. On top of cFS and RTEMS it will host anomaly detection, an AI star tracker, GNSS navigation, on-board image processing, in-orbit model management, a radiation-aware scheduler and federated learning across constellations.

Over the next 24 months we will take the technology from TRL 3 to TRL 6: requirements, architecture, a prototype board, an engineering model and a full HIL/SIL verification campaign.
